A new trailer for Marrowbone, a Gothic horror movie by the writer of The Orphanage, was released online on Monday. Starring a cast-full of young actors - The Witch’s Anya Taylor-Joy, Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton, Mia Goth and George MacKay - the film is about the horrors four siblings must contend with after they cover up the death of their mother.
Marrowbone marks the directorial debut of Sergio G Sanchez, who wrote 2007’s critically-acclaimed horror film, The Orphanage. Both films tackle themes of familial bonds and are set inside haunted houses.
Both Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlie Heaton have made names for themselves after appearing in highly-successful films and TV shows. Taylor-Joy starred in back-to-back horror breakouts, The Witch and M Night Shyamalan’s Split, and she will next be seen in the X-Men spinoff, New Mutants. Meanwhile, Heaton most recently appeared in the second season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. MacKay has starred in a number of acclaimed British dramas and Mia Goth most famously starred in Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac.
Marrowbone has already been released in Spain, but will be rolled out internationally soon.
